Choose a preferred domain

A preferred domain is the address visitors see after Pagecloud redirects them to one version of your domain.

For example, you can prefer www.example.com or example.com. Either choice is valid.

Before choosing a preferred domain

Connect both the root and www versions first. Wait until DNS and SSL are active for both addresses.

Choose a preferred domain for an AI Site

1. Open the site’s Project dashboard.
2. Select Custom domain.
3. Under Preferred URL, choose the root or www address.
4. Select Update.
5. Open both addresses in a private browser window and confirm they lead to the preferred version.

The Preferred URL control appears after both hostnames are connected and SSL is active.

Choose a preferred domain for a classic site

1. Open the site dashboard.
2. Select Domain.
3. Find Choose your Preferred URL.
4. Choose the root or www address.
5. Select Update.
6. Test both addresses in a private browser window.

If an external proxy manages redirects for your domain, Pagecloud may not show this option. Configure the redirect with that provider instead.
