Publish and connect an AI Site domain
Publish your AI Site before connecting a custom domain. AI Sites use different DNS records from classic Pagecloud sites, so always copy the records shown for your site.
How do I publish an AI Site?
- Review the site at phone, tablet, and desktop sizes.
- Select Publish site in the editor.
- Wait for confirmation that the site is live.
- Open the free Pagecloud address to verify the published site.
Pagecloud saves editor changes as you work, but saved changes do not update the live site automatically. After the first publish, use Publish updates whenever you want new changes to go live.
How do I connect a custom domain?
- Open the Pagecloud logo menu and select Project dashboard.
- Select Domain in the project sidebar.
- On the Domain setup page, find Custom domain.
- Enter your domain and select Add domain.
- Keep this page open. Pagecloud now displays the DNS records for your domain.
- Sign in to the provider that manages your DNS.
- Copy every Type, Name, and Value exactly as Pagecloud displays it.
- Return to Pagecloud and select Check status.
After a domain is added, the sidebar item is labeled Custom domain.
Which DNS records should I add?
Use only the records displayed on your AI Site’s Domain setup page. Do not copy records from another site or from classic Pagecloud instructions.
For each hostname, Pagecloud can display:
- An ANAME or ALIAS target for the root domain
- A CNAME for
www - CNAME verification records required for SSL
- TXT ownership records when required
Some verification values are unique to your domain. They can also change if a domain is removed and added again.
If your provider does not support ANAME or ALIAS records, expand No ANAME/ALIAS support? Use A records instead. Add every A and TXT record shown in that section.
Your DNS provider may automatically add the full domain to a record name. For example, enter _acme-challenge when the provider automatically turns it into _acme-challenge.example.com.
How do I know the domain is connected?
Select Check status after saving your DNS changes. Pagecloud checks the root domain and www separately.
The setup is complete when:
- The overall domain badge says Connected
- Each hostname says DNS connected
- Each hostname says SSL active
DNS pending means the required routing record is not visible yet. SSL issuing or SSL pending means the certificate is not active yet. Recheck every displayed record before waiting for propagation.
DNS updates can take time to appear. If the exact displayed records are present but the status does not change after 48 hours, contact Pagecloud support with the domain name and screenshots of the records.
Can I choose between the root and www address?
After both hostnames are connected and SSL is active, choose your Preferred URL on the Domain setup page. Pagecloud redirects visitors to that version.
Can I use Hover Connect or a registrar template?
Do not use an automatic Pagecloud DNS template for an AI Site unless the provider explicitly says it supports Pagecloud AI Sites. Older templates can install classic Pagecloud records, which do not connect an AI Site.
Buying a domain through Pagecloud’s Hover partner is separate from DNS setup. After purchase, use the records displayed on your AI Site’s Domain setup page.
