Fix SSL Certificate Errors

PageCloud sets up a free SSL certificate for your domain automatically, so most “Not Secure”, “Invalid SSL Certificate”, and https errors clear up on their own. If yours has not, work through the steps below in order.

Give the certificate time to issue

When you first connect a custom domain, the SSL certificate can take 24 to 48 hours to be issued after all of your DNS records are entered correctly. If you connected your domain recently, wait and check again later.

For how automatic SSL works, see SSL for your Custom Domain.

Confirm your DNS records are correct

An “Invalid SSL Certificate” or an https failure is almost always a DNS problem, not a certificate problem.

If you use Cloudflare, set the SSL mode to Flexible

When your domain runs through Cloudflare in front of PageCloud, PageCloud support recommends setting Cloudflare’s encryption mode to Flexible:

  1. Log into Cloudflare and open your domain.
  2. Go to SSL/TLS, then Overview.
  3. Set the encryption mode to Flexible.
  4. Save, wait a few minutes, then reload your site.

If you then see a “too many redirects” error, set your Preferred Domain to www in PageCloud. New to Cloudflare? Start with the Cloudflare setup guide.

Clear your browser cache

If the domain is set up correctly but your browser still shows a certificate warning, it may be displaying a cached, insecure version of your site.

  • Clear your browser cache, or open the site in an incognito (private) window. See Clear Browser Cache.

Fix a “Not Secure” warning from mixed content

If only some pages show “Not Secure”, you likely have content loaded from a non secure (http) source, such as an embed, image, or script.

  • Upload the content directly to PageCloud, or use a service that supports https. This removes the warning.

Still seeing an error

Wait the full 48 hours, then email support@pagecloud.com with your domain name and a screenshot of the error so the team can investigate.
